In Hawaii, the roads have the lowest speed limits in the United States. Speed limits signs are posted on almost all of the highways showing 55 mph or less. Interstate H-1 between Kapolei and Waipahu, Interstate H-3 between the Tetsuo Harano Tunnels and the H-1 junction is 60 mph. Central freeways throughout Honolulu are 45 mph.

If drivers are pulled over going 30 mph over the speed limit in Hawaii it is automatically considered reckless driving and violators will be fined up to $1000, sentenced to 30 days in jail and have their license suspended for 1-5 years.
